Research On Order & Chaos

What happens when order and chaos collide?

On Order and Chaos is an exploration of the dynamic interplay between structure and unpredictability, brought to life with 25 tractors and their drivers. Together, we created a temporary field of research where traditional patterns were disrupted, allowing chaos to unfold. Trying to find out if patterns really can emerge from chaos. Can you discover patterns in the research video below, captured with a drone?

Step inside the chaos – Explore the 360° experience”
“Filmed from a moving tractor, this immersive video was exhibited in galleries, letting visitors experience the project from within. What happens when you can no longer see the patterns? Look around and feel the movement—can you find order, or only chaos?

Every tractor carries a story

Through conversations with their owners, it became clear that these machines are more than tools—they are deeply personal, tied to family stories, land, and identity. Each tractor holds memories, shaped by its past and the hands that steered it. These three – human, machine and narrative – set out on an exciting exploration into chaos.

More Than Machines

To some, a tractor is just equipment. To others, it’s part of who they are.

“Honestly, I’m a little in love with it.”
“The tractor you learned to drive on is the one you feel the strongest connection to.”

Some see them as machines; others see them as history in motion.
“It’s all about the tractor; it’s literally the driving force of the farm.”

And sometimes, that connection lasts a lifetime.
“When I’m buried, my coffin will be carried by the tractor I bought when I was 16.”
